As per the National Education Policy 2020, National Curriculum Framework 2023, and Maharashtra State Curriculum Framework 2024, ‘Vocational Education’ has been made a compulsory subject from Grade 6. NCERT has published textbooks titled Kaushal Bodh, which emphasize project-based learning. Schools are given the flexibility to select projects based on their local context and available resources.
Vigyan Ashram has been working in the field of skill-based education for over 40 years, and the IBT (Introduction to Basic Technology) program has been successfully implemented across the state. In 2025–26, with the permission of SCERT, a pilot project was conducted in 50 schools, and this book has been developed based on that experience.
This book includes practical experiences from various schools, project methodologies, and students’ hands-on work. It serves as a guide to effectively implement vocational education in schools across Maharashtra.
