About Us
Vigyan Ashram – “Vigyan” means ‘Search of Truth’ and “Ashram” symbolises ‘Simple living and High thinking for us, an organization where all are equal, it’s a modern version of old Gurukul system’
Vigyan Ashram is located in the village Pabal, approximately 70 kms from Pune. It was founded by Dr.S.S Kalbag in 1983.
Vigyan Ashram was started under the aegis of the Indian Institute of Education. It is an autonomous center of Indian Institute of Education. Administrative and financial management of Vigyan Ashram is managed through the Management Committee of Vigyan Ashram.
Over the years, Vigyan Ashram’s program has increased, and now it is implementing its various program through many sister and partner organisations.
Vigyan Ashram’s program and activities at its campus at Pabal and J.P Naik Center for education & Development, Pune are implemented under the umbrella of ‘Indian Institute of Education’.
Scale-up activities of Vigyan Ashram are done in partnership with ‘Skills Training for Advancement of Rural Societies forum (STARS Forum). It is networking with various NGOs across India and implementing the ‘Rural Development through Education System(RDES)’ concept of Vigyan Ashram.
Technologies and training programs developed by Vigyan Ashram are commercialized through a not for profit company M/S Vigyan Ashram Technologies Foundation.
