Hydroponics farming is considered a futuristic farming methodology due to its advantage of higher production per unit area. In the Indian context, new-age farmers are attempting to adopt it either as a mainstream agricultural practice or as an urban farming model. However, most hydroponics farming concepts in India are either copied from foreign countries or adopted half-heartedly without proper field trials and economic feasibility studies, making the practice capital-intensive, technically challenging, and non-viable for many farmers.
