Drainage Water Experiment

Vigyan Ashram is located in Pabal village, Shirur Taluka, Pune District. This region receives an average annual rainfall of less than 600 millimeters, leading to a shortage of water. When the rainfall is low, the water requirement is fulfilled through water tankers during the summer months, typically from February to May. Every year, Vigyan Ashram requires an average of 25 to 30 tankers of water. Each tanker carries 14,000 liters of water, costing around ₹1800 per tanker. Thus, the Ashram spends approximately ₹50,000 to ₹55,000 annually on tanker water. This water is mainly used for personal consumption by humans. During the summer, both people and livestock struggle to find water, leaving hardly any water available for trees and agriculture. As a result, Vigyan Ashram had started thinking seriously about this critical issue a long time ago.
