Lignin rich agricultural biomass is not used as fodder nor composted due to higher time & soil moisture requirement. The process composting uses soil-nitrogen content in soil further reducing crop yield. Farmers burn agro-waste (sugarcane, wheat, bajara etc) trash while losing very valuable natural carbon and adding it to air as air-pollution. Vigyan Ashram has developed ‘microbial consortium’ very effective in composting ‘high lignin based agro-waste’. The consortium is very easy to use & reproduce at farm level. It can be directly sourced from Vigyan Ashram, Pabal (Tal-Shirur, District-Pune) campus.
