Plan 100

A partnership project by Vigyan Ashram and Lend-A-Hand-India initiated in 2005-06 to introduce ‘Introduction to Basic Technology’ to 100 schools across rural Maharashtra

Vigyan Ashram has implemented IBT program in 23 schools till 2001 with the support of Dorabaji Tata Trust. The funding was over in 2001 but the schools continued their program on their own without any support. The sustainability of the IBT program, In 2004, PLAN 100 project was launched with four schools in 2005-06 and 56 schools have been supported by 2010-11 in the first phase of Plan100 program.

Before 2003, VA had already put in place a system for support at school level as well as coordination of the implementation process. All the learning in implementing the program with the support of Sir Dorabaji Tata Trust till 2003 was considered and Plan100 project was formed to replicate IBT program at a scale. This project is jointly implemented by Vigyan Ashram and Lend-a-hand-India (www.lend-a-hand-india.org). In PLAN 100 project, from 2005 till 2011, VA was responsible for the actual day-to-day implementation viz. support at school level, training of instructors, monitoring, and research and development of the IBT content / syllabus and routine administrative aspects while LAHI was primarily responsible for resource mobilization, project management support, and for developing and refining project processes for enhancing project implementation quality.

In 2011onwards, many of the 56 schools become self supporting and first batch graduated from Xth std. After the funding period for first phase was over.  From 2011 onwards, Vigyan ashram is focusing on training, content development and research & development of new activities of IBT program. Whereas funding & project monitoring to school is done by LAHI.
